My research focuses on understanding the evolution and ecology of corals using molecular and experimental approaches. I am particularly interested in the understudied species of the reef: corals which are less common but may have different responses to climate change because of their alternative life-histories. I am currently working on optimizing the growth and resilience of corals to aid in the active restoration of Hawaiian reefs. The long term goals of this project are to protect the shorelines of our state and the communities that live here.
