PhD Candidate
PI: Brian Bowen
Graduate program: Marine Biology

As an avid angler, my research interests revolve around topics relevant to scientists, managers, and the fishing community. My masters work highlighted the recruitment dynamics and early life history characteristics of oama (juvenile M. flavolineatus and M. vanicolensis) around Oahu. The focus of my dissertation will seek to build upon the work I was apart of as the coordinator for the Oio Tagging Project. My PhD will be filling in the knowledge and data gaps for Hawaii’s bonefishes (A. glossodonta/virgata) regarding their larval stages (leptocephalus), population genetics, and socioeconomics of the recreational and commercial fishery.
